Bengal Commercial Bank signed an agreement with SME Foundation on 09 April 2026 at a hotel in Dhaka to facilitate loan disbursement under the 4th phase of the government-supported revolving fund, as part of the Credit Wholesaling Program aimed at strengthening the SME sector. This initiative reflects a continued commitment to fostering inclusive economic growth by empowering small and medium enterprises (SME) across the country.
Tarik Morshed, Managing Director of Bengal Commercial Bank and Anwar Hossain Chowdhury, Managing Director of SME Foundation, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations.
The signing ceremony was graced by the presence of Khandaker Abdul Muktadir, Minister for Industry, Commerce, Textile and Jute, as the Chief Guest. The event was chaired by Md. Obaidur Rahman, Secretary of the Ministry of Industries and Chairperson of SME Foundation while Nurun Nahar, Deputy Governor of Bangladesh Bank and Nasrin Fatema Awal, President of the Women Entrepreneurs Association of Bangladesh, attended the program as Special Guests.
The government-supported revolving fund of BDT 300 crore aims to accelerate SME sector growth and enhance access to finance for priority and underserved entrepreneurs. Under SME Foundation’s Credit Wholesaling Program, loan and investment activities have been implemented in phases with notable success. Building on this progress, the agreement marks the launch of the 4th phase of disbursement. In total, 11 banks and 4 financial institutions, including Bengal Commercial Bank, signed agreements with SME Foundation in the mentioned ceremony.
